The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, on Saturday stressed the need for Nigeria to develop its own plan capable of effectively addressing the current economic downturn. This is just as the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, said that the right monetary, fiscal and structural policies would address the biting recession. Fashola, who spoke while delivering a lecture on “Freedom from Fear, Choices before the New Generation” to mark the 42nd convocation of the University of Benin, Edo State, said that Nigerians must overcome their fears and use their natural resources to create solutions and improve their lives. While addressing the graduating students, he said, “We will not pray our way out of recession; we will plan and produce our way back to prosperity and out of recession and you are the freshest, youngest and most energetic workforce we will have to work with. “You are the new batteries to power the engine of growth of our country. Hillary Clinton Urged to Contest Election Results in Swing States

Hillary Clinton is being pushed by computer scientists and lawyers to challenge the presidential election results in three key swing states, two of which Donald Trump won two weeks ago. While one member of that group said in an online post Wednesday that the results were “probably not” hacked, he advised Clinton to file for an examination of the physical evidence. The group believes it found evidence that vote totals in the three states—Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin—might have been affected by a cyberattack, saying the Democratic nominee received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines instead of paper ballots or scanners, New York magazine reported.

Watch Kevin Love drop NBA record 34 points in first quarter on Portland

Kevin Love is hotter than your Thanksgiving oven. Which means, Trail Blazers, you may want to stop leaving him open. Love set an NBA record dropping 34 points on Portland — in the first quarter. Love was 11-of-14 from the floor, including 8-of-10 from three, and seemed like he could not miss. A lot of his shots came on pick-and-pops where both Portland defenders went with the ball, or where Love’s man just flat-out lost him at the arc and couldn’t recover. That said, Love hit some tough fade-aways and made plays in the post. Once he started to see the ball go in nothing was going to stop him. That’s the kind of shooting exhibition that would leave Stephen Curry impressedWe will note that the Trail Blazers had the second-worst defense in the NBA coming into the game, and they are on the second night of a back-to-back (Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis torched them Tuesday). Still, 34 points in one quarter is flat out ridiculous, and Love earned those buckets knocking down the shots. (...

Teen Suspect in Utah School Stabbing Allegedly ‘Wanted to Feel’ What It Was Like to Kill

The 16-year-old boy who is accused of wounding five classmates during a recent stabbing rampage in a Utah high school allegedly told investigators “he wanted to feel what was like” to kill someone “prior to dying himself,” according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The newly released documents reveal the clearest picture yet of the short, sudden and brutal stabbing attack on Nov. 15 — as well as several allegations about the teenage suspect’s motives and level of preparation. Police believe the attacker’s goal was simple and indiscriminate: Inflict pain on as many people as possible. The teen, a sophomore who has not been identified, allegedly prepared for the stabbings the previous day — coming to school with a bo staff, steak knives and “other tools to inflict physical violence against others” — and he allegedly told police he planned to end his own life before being captured by authorities, according to the court documents. He said he wore red clothing to school the mornin...

Italian town offers Robert De Niro asylum following Trump win

Image
Prior to the US presidential elections, Robert De Niro said he'd leave the US if Trump won the elections. Well, Trump did win and now a small Italian town has come to the rescue of the Hollywood veteran. Robert De Niro's great-grandparents are from Ferazzano in Southern Italy and the town has offered him asylum should he choose to make good on his pledge. The city's mayor Antonio Cerio said: 'If after the disappointment of Trump, he wants to take refuge here, we are ready to welcome him.' 'Naturally it would be an honour and give us great pleasure,' Cerio said, delighted at the publicity for the town of 3,000 residents. De Niro hasn't minced his words in his criticism of Trump, describing him as 'a punk', 'a pig' and 'an idiot'. 'I'd like to punch him in he face,' he said before the election.
