Corona virus Disease
also known as 2019-nCov acute respiratory disease is an infectious caused by
severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2. Its first case was found in
November 2019 in Wuhan the capital of China’s province and has spread globally,
resulting in the ongoing 2020 Corona virus pandemic. According to the
guardian.com, it has affected over 425,000 people in over 150 countries
around the globe, causing more than 18,000 deaths.
This deadly diseases
common symptom include shortness of breath, loss of smell, headache, sore
throat, diarrhea, abdominal pain, kidney failure, nasal congestion, fever,
cough, bluish face or lips, difficult waking, confusion, decreased white blood
cells and persistent chest pain.
The virus spreads by people
getting in contact with each other, through small droplets produced during coughing,
sneezing, talking. Touching a metal face being infected and one can be infected
because covid19 can survive on the surface for up to 72 hours.
Measures according to
the health personnel include frequent hand washing or sanitizing our hands, keeping
a social distancing from others, avoid shaking, covering coughs and sneezes
with a tissue paper or inner elbow.
Finally, there is no
vaccine or any active treatment for COVID19 and its management entails treatment
of symptoms, supportive care, isolation and experimental measures.
